Grass sways in autumn’s cool. Green frogs call from a nearby pool. Strong tensions hold the evening air, as light recedes to it’s western lair.
For now the day is past its prime, the sun is lost, it’s shadow’s time. Last shreds of light by clouds are barred, dark descends on my backyard.
A home for creatures, grey and tall, which cause the heads of grass to fall. Birds above, insects below, reptiles retreat, as no sun glows.
Far open spaces, harsh southern light. Deep darkened hollows, remaining night.

Enfrosted, ragged shards of life, captured in place, frozen on high, once light grasping, now folorn, watch the winter pass them by.
